Visit to Ripley’s Aquarium near Union Station and exploration of fishes in the morning!
I reserved aquarium in Downtown at 9:00 AM! (Can you believe it?) I must be the first ones to get in there. It was my first visit and I felt like going back to my childhood. It was a great way to start a day.
Getting there
The aquarium is connected to the Union Station so you don’t have to get outside in rainy days. It is a kind of long walk through Skywalk,. Just follow the signs and you end up beside the CN Tower elevator. There is the aquarium. I thought I should have gone to CN Tower that day too because aquarium only took me 1 hour to look around. Kids were there first with their parents and teachers. I guess it is kids’ favorite place. In the entrance, they check the ticket and you are in!
Small Fishes
First thing that caught my eyes was a tank at the entrance with small fishes going in one direction. That was very cool. Silver fishes reflecting light. I suggest to take picture and video here since the whole aquarium is kind of dark.
There is the famous Nemo!
There were a lot of small fishes of different colors, as well as big fishes like shark.
Sharks
There is a shark! In fact, there were a lot of sharks in groups going over your head. The aquarium was dome shaped in this section so you can see them in 180 degree angle. Kids screamed and shouted at this section. There is slow-moving trail you can ride to look around without even moving. It was very exciting.
There was some educational and fun resources there, explaining how waves and salt affect the sea. It would be a great science trip for children, I thought
Jellyfishes
There were cool lights on jelly fish section so I took a picture. Pink and purple lights made jelly fish look even more alive and active.
Ray fish
Ray fishes! There were really cool too. Way they swim caught my eyes and many kids’ eyes. I could not help but take videos. You can also see them flip at your feet level outside the aquarium near the gift shop. They splash to you!
Summary
it was really a cool trip. It was short too! I really enjoyed it. I recommend going there with kids, very educational and hands-on! Thanks.
