Hi~ I went to two trips this early summer months, May and June. That makes these early summer special already. >< I was also busy with work, volunteer, socializing and cafe tours. View my post and get a glimpse of what it is like to live in Toronto as Jane. (Hope you enjoy my personal record of days of my summer 2024.)
Left over April 30th
I visited now and later cafe located at near Ossington Station (Subway). It is closed to my work place so I decided to try before going to work. Great cup isn’t it? Their bagel bomb is called bagel bomb because it tastes like everything bagel with cream cheese. It had cozy atmosphere although a bit less spacy. Try it!
May 1st
You know I am fond of going to cafes before work by now. Another cafe near my work place (Bloor and Christie) Paradise Cafe, is a cafe with theatre. Never watched anything there but their Cafe is very space full and very clean with some plants.
MAY 2
I went to another sets of Cafe. (This week was full of cafe tour, as I look back).
Butter and Blue is such a nice cafe with a clear theme just around the corner of St. Patrick Station. They got a nice terrace and plates. Their scone was very buttery and latte was very normal tasting. I liked it. On your way out there is also stand only chain cafe The library to visit. If you are on the run to get a americano, like me, then visit!
May 6 * The day trip to Niagara!
Did you know near Niagara, there is tulip farm? Tulip blooms near this time and I went to Tasc Farm to observe tons of tulip in rows! Looked very cute and picking experience was exceptional, as a tulip lover. Wear a running shoes, unlike me, cause the ground is muddy, if you are going next year. You can reserve ticket online (That’s what I did.)
Of course, you went to Niagara Falls and can’t miss a view of the falls. I don’t know but it made me calm and awed.
And, Sky wheel always made me curious but I was on it for the first time in this visit. It is much scarier and longer than it looks. You can view the falls up there when they stop. Don’t forget to sit on the side of the falls for photos
.
In Clifton Hill, there are lots of exibition places to go to and take pictures. I went to wax museum and upside down museum. I love how you can be part of the scene. The upside down museum was kind of dizzy to stand in, though. Also don’t miss playing games at the game place near the entrance. (Best moment I had in this trip.) I personally like sport-involving games. A lot of throwing~hh.
May 8th
You know what’s waiting after a good trip: work!!!
I interviewed and started a volunteer position at a clinic and I go two days in a week. It is a position which is part of my graduation course. I am very excited but worried at the same time.
Plus, it was first day this drink was introduced to Starbucks so I wanted to share.
Please work on and drink on, everyone.
May 9
Its a Thursday and its my study day. You know what that called for. A caffeine addict like me need coffee to get things done. Carbonic Cafe is a nice cafe with lots of seats to do work on but somehow my wifi didn’t work so… only had drinks. I hurried to next cafe near the Osgoode station. The problem is I don’t know the name. It was Asian bakery/cafe. They got nice salmon sandwich and I tired that.
May 11-24
That’s me going nowhere and working straight for the whole week. Hoping for another day out. Challenging but meaningful. I was surprised a volunteer wear a scrub but it was comfy and gave me professional look so I loved it.
May 26
Finally Sunday!, felt like walking around downtown to eat. Verses Cafe was filled with people that day. I had a berry lemonade and open salmon sandwich on avocado paste. Sunny cafe to study all day, if you can. hhh. Then, I got so hungry went Wellsely station and got duck ramen from Boku and I also ordered lime drink. Lime drink had some lyches and It was so refreshing. I wished I had another one now. Ramen was so tasty as it looks. There’s also Kream Cafe nearby to get mini brick toast. I was full and I just had iced americano. It seems there are some promotion if you buy enough toast that you get americano free.
May 30
On a tired Thursday, I went to two cafes before going to work hh. I had a latte from Black Wolf Cafe and nearby Reply cafe. Both Asian Cafes. Reply Cafe had creative menus but wolf cafe was traditional. But their latte was good. They are worth trying for once !
June 13 *The day I left for a US trip (Washington D.C. & New York City)
Ok, my June this year can be summarized with this trip. I reserved for the bus trip via a Korean Tour. That’s me in hours and hours of bus riding. Let’s get started on what I did there.
June 14
On the way to D.C., there was a national cave we visited.
It was amazing place with naturally formed rocks. Plus, it was cool enough to wear a jacket on a hot sunny day, which is even better.
After hours of ride, we arrived at D.C.!! It was melting hot day. We saw the monuments, including Lincoln & the memorial statue. A lot of people were there. Good weather gave me amazing photos.
Then, we went a little bit to see parliament buildings, including the white house. That statue is Athene statue, known for goddess of victory. Such amazing view!
Near by the white house, there are quiet a bit of free museums there. The gallery had amazing artists’ work, a lot of them had their name known worldwide. The elephant place in the photo is for kids really but worth visiting if you like animals. The building at the bottom right on the background had amazing lawn in front of it, everybody seems to take pictures there, sitting.
June 15
First place we went in New York was wall street area with ground zero. Ground zero they said was to built in memorial of people sacrificed in 911 terror. The falls symbolize tears of those who sacrificed and had a American flag when it was their birthday. Blue bottle was nearby and I had one. They got so strong latte. I liked it. Walking through the city was fun and romantic in-between buildings.
Then we went to catch a ferry to see statue of liberty and Brooklyn bridge. Amazing view they had. The statue was bigger than I thought. We had no time to go Brooklyn bridge but at least we get to see them.
We went to see Chelsea market at lunch. The lobster place, of course, had lobsters but I had a poke instead, cuz I am not a big fan of lobsters. It was very fresh. Around the area was high line, which is like a bridge with views of the city and some eateries. Little island is a one street away for walking too.
That’s Washington Square park and NYU area. Lively with music and broadcasting. Quiet intersting.
Next set of places we went was located at the heart of 5th street. It was arranged in perfect squares with street names all numbers. I went to radio city building, Lego land, and MOMA shop. Failed to see a starring night by Van Gogh cuz schedule got too busy.
Then, it got pretty dark. We went to time square, which was busy, like really busy. Central park was peaceful, ironically. The places were very close. We went up to summit and took a photo of shining lights but, so many people already was on the famous spots.
Jun 15
We headed to woodbury outlet on the way back home. Shack Shack burger there had a lot of cheese and ralphs’ coffee had amazing cup. I bought some tory burch and ralph lauren like last time I was in USA.
Jun 24
After visiting USA, I felt so tired like for a week. All the sunlight I got was too much. I needed coffee to go work so I visited a cafe near the Osgoode station. Greenbox cafe and the 5s Cafe was nice with a sunny view. They got me healing from the trip.
Summary
That was it for May and June 2024 for me. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful summer. See you soon.
P.S. Get enough nutrients for the summer!
