What I watched or watching on Netflix screenshot

Ok, how is everybody doing this winter, especially this 2022 Christmas week? Well, if you did not know, Canada is going through a bad snow storm this week so… my flight is cancelled. (Sad) So, I just plan to watch things this holiday and come to think that I wanted to share what I find amusing on Netflix this year.

Love & Anarchy

Do you like to see Northern Europe and an office romance? Then, this is the right show to watch. Besides actors being so handsome and cute (which is very important to me, of course in terms of increasing concentration), I really like this Swedish show that describe an affair story at Stockholm. I find it very possible and new. It catched my eyes because it is winter-themed. That seemed to match what we are experiencing here in Canada. The bus almost looked the same.

To describe some characters: I like Sophie’s personality. She is very responsible and professional at work but, at the same time, lonely for a married woman and she has behavioral problem. I really love Mark too. I like that he is very easy-going, social, but don’t know what to do with his job. I like how people with totally different personalities and backgrounds can still fall romantically and how they turn out to be more mature through relationship. It is an affair but it is not quite just an affair.

I came across this show on YouTube playlist channel, so so playlist, which compiled a song with the scenes from the show. I first had a crush on Sophie’s dress code and try to find it on google. And, it was on Netflix actually so I started watching the show. To be honest, this show is not in English and we need subtitles but I did not lose focus because it was really interesting.

Last Christmas

Did you like the movie or novel, Me Before You? I am a fan of Me before You and I even have the third book, Still me, in my bookshelf. The same actress acts in this movie. This movie is kind of old but it is getting attention all the time in December because it is a good Christmas movie. The movie takes place in downtown London.

The main character woman works at a Christmas shop as a part time cashier to support her future career as a singer. She goes to auditions and she fails every time. She goes out every night and party all night but her relationship seems not long-lasting. She is a Croatian-English in the movie and describes her life as an immigrant and there are family troubles. And, she meets this romantically weird Asian-American Guy who try to talk to her about things she did not notice in the city. How original? It is just hilarious movie and romantic too so trust me and watch it.

It is just perfect movie to watch this Christmas, where there is war going on and everything seems to be expensive. I really like her British accent and how she talks, which is very cute. (I don’t know but the movie reminds me of Ariana Grande the whole time.)

Emily in Paris

Ok, it is newer one this time. The new season, actually the 3rd, for Emily in Paris began today. I just saw first episode and got all excited. Emily got double job in Paris and a new relationship, other than Gabriel. The show describes how friendship and relationship can get complicated and intertwined. Emily does not speak French but lives in Paris and she has a job in Fashion industry. She is from Chicago and her relationship is very dynamic.

I always like how Lily Collins pulls out somewhat strange dresses she wear, and her friend, Mindy, who sings live songs at stage (she sings so well!). I also like her feminist view and solid belief in what she does. And who plays her boyfriend is likable. I like him more than Gabriel. Plus, the views of the city and how director catch Paris are amazing. Needless to say, it ranked 1st in today’s Netflix so you should definitely watch it.

20th Century Girl

I’m Korean and here I go picking a good Korean style movie. This movie is about an innocent teenage girl in 90s loving a guy who is her friend’s crush. She stalks her friend’s crush using internet and camera because her sick friend lives abroad. (You know back then, there was only email. No phones and social media.) She is very affectionate to her friend and she struggles a lot when she knew she is also in love with the guy.

I think the movie is very artistic and brings up old memories. I like retro-things and it is just my favorite movie, which does not leave from my mind for a while. It has a sad ending which makes it more Korean style. If you like first-love theme and school love story Korean version, you’ll love this one. It led me to watch a lot of traditional shows that were made in 90s including ‘October love’ and Christmas in August’. To suggest another Netflix movie similar, which is also retro-Korean romance, Tune in for Love is also a good one, starring Kim Ko-Eun, who acted in the movie Goblin.

Partner Track

Would you like a success story of an Asian girl in US? This is a good one. It is also based on novel. It is a story of a Korean lawyer in US. She goes to a famous law firm and try to keep that job desperately, not losing to any rivals. To be honest, I did not watch the whole thing yet, but I really like how she study English by keeping a radio besides her bad so she can learn new words and law every second of her day. It is very empowering theme and I really like the actress. I especially like her blue dress in episode 3. It is a bit formal theme and there are lots of legal vocabulary so I think this one is good for studying. Very inspiring. I think it connects to ‘The strange attorney Woo Young Woo’, which is Korean version of Partner Track and became a huge hit Word Wide this summer.

Summary

I think I will watch Pinocchio next. I heard that it is a bit different from the original story or from Disney version. Also, I will continue watching Someday, which is thriller and crime show. Hope you all enjoy jolly Christmas, despite the troubles we had 2022. I really suggest these shows if you are already subscribing Netflix.

Thank you.
