Fruit picking at Milton and food I ate that week.
Last week, I went to Andrew’s Farm at Milton! It was very exciting experience to pick grapes, take pictures with sunflowers and dahlias. I felt like I am experiencing true fall in Canada.
Getting there
Well. It was tough to get there from Finch Station. First I went to Finch West by TTC bus. Then, I went by Subway to Highway 7 station. Then, I took GO bus that goes to Hamilton and got off after 2-3 stops. Then, I took bus for GO University of Waterloo. Well, like that’s not enough, I had to take a taxi to 10 Side road, 8min or so, which was actually quite expensive. Drive~, if you are going.
Flowers
The season was for sunflowers and there was an acre of Sunflowers in the farm. They all looked a bit exhausted(?), putting their heads down, but it was 3o’clock and Sunflowers are supposed to do that. I think it is best place to take pictures
That’s another photo I took with dahlia this time. It looked healthier than sunflowers. Please be careful of bees. It was very colorful, pink red yellow, white. Very cute.
Fruit picking
The farm grew variety of fruits and vegetables like corn, apple, grape (the one I did), and pumpkins etc. Grapes were rare and expensive in the supermarket so I did grapes but you can choose. Also, You should bring your own basket and scissors because they do rentals and make you deposit $5. (And, you get to pick size of the basket so It is more economical.) It was great experience and costed me abut 30 dollars in total. I really enjoyed grapes at home the whole week. If you bring kids, they will love it.
Bloor Street W. Food
I work nearby but this I found for the first time. Bloor St actually had a nice coffee shop! If you are sick and tired of getting Tim’s, you should try going to small cafes like this. Cute cup and great tasting lattes.
I felt like having thai food so I walked next door to Café. I did not expect much but their fried shrimp spring roll was just amazing. I liked the fried rice but I’d rather have thai express because it is less sweet and more spicy. Easy to go so visit if you are near.
At Spadina station, if you walk like 7minutes, you can find this old style cafe, called Wild Hearts. Very easy going and I liked their nutella latte. (It tasted great even after 4 hours.) The iced one is just regular iced tea, presumably lavender? Lavender latte is what they specialize in but lavender was not my thing so I skipped.
Okey, the last place I wanted to introduce and especially recommend is Ten Ren’s tea. You probably are familiar with it because it is a famous bubble tea chain. But, at North York Centre, there is food as well. Their black pepper cutlet is just so good. I regret their drink is not taro or original black milk tea but the strawberry was not too bad. Please go and check it out. If you like bubbles, you will indulge.
Summary
It was very busy week, with extra work and everything. But, these places cheered me up. There is nothing like good events and places that make you feel alive and get going. Find your own trip and try something new every week. Trust me, it will make a difference in your life.
Thank you.
